Andrea Roman ceramicist

Andrea seeks to represent the rocks, soil, sand and mud in every piece she makes. She incorporates glaze merely as a functional element, trying to keep it as subtle and minimal as possible in order to highlight the qualities of the clay bodies she works with.  Her hand-thrown vessels and tableware are currently sold in selected shops around Europe under the name AR ceramics.

Andrea Roman Studied Industrial Design at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, with a one year exchange program at Escola de Belas Artes in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She specialised in ceramic cast moulding, winning a Honourable Mention at the 6th Biennial of Utilitarian Ceramics in Mexico City.

Her work has been showcased by the London Design Festival, Biennial of Utilitarian Ceramics in Mexico City and Abierto Mexicano de Diseño, and her latest pieces have been featured in books and magazines internationally.
